= Texas Hot Sauce = * '''Makes:''' 4 cups * Adapted from Homesick Texan * Contributor: Mike & Kate == Ingredients == * 1 pound plum tomatoes, stemmed and halved lengthwise * 3 jalapeños stemmed and halved (see note) * 4 garlic cloves, peeled * 1 cup water * salt and black pepper == Instructions == 1. Combine everything but the salt and black pepper in a large pot. Bring to a boil then turn the heat down to low. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the tomatoes are soft. 2. Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool for 10 minutes. 3. Pour the contents of the pot into a blender or food processor and blend until well combined. 4. Add salt and black pepper to taste. 5. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to a week. == Note == * We like spicy food so we keep some of the jalapeño seeds in.
