No Drippings Gravy
This recipe will make a decent chicken or beef gravy. It's great when the turkey didn't produce enough drippings and you forgot to buy gravy!
Ingredients
- 2 C water
- 3 chicken or beef bullion cubes
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 T butter
- 3/4 cup onion, finely chopped (roughly 1 small onion)
- 2 T heavy cream
- Dash of pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a sauce pan bring the water to a boil and dissolve bullion cubes
- In a different large sauce pan, melt the butter.
- Cook the onion until lightly browned, roughly 5-8 minutes.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Whisk in the stock and cook uncovered until thickened, roughly 5 minutes.
- Whisk in the cream or milk and season with salt to taste
For less chunky gravy you can blend the finished product in a blender.
