No Drippings Gravy

This recipe will make a decent chicken or beef gravy. It's great when the turkey didn't produce enough drippings and you forgot to buy gravy!

Ingredients

  • 2 C water
  • 3 chicken or beef bullion cubes
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 T butter
  • 3/4 cup onion, finely chopped (roughly 1 small onion)
  • 2 T heavy cream
  • Dash of pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan bring the water to a boil and dissolve bullion cubes
  2. In a different large sauce pan, melt the butter.
  3. Cook the onion until lightly browned, roughly 5-8 minutes.
  4. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Whisk in the stock and cook uncovered until thickened, roughly 5 minutes.
  6. Whisk in the cream or milk and season with salt to taste

For less chunky gravy you can blend the finished product in a blender.
