  1. Preheat the oven to 425F and lightly grease 12 regular muffin cups or line them with muffin cups.
  2. Cream together the butter, oil, molasses, and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the eggs until well combined.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and black pepper. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredient and mix until the batter just comes together. Pour in the milk and stir until smooth. The batter should look like chocolate frosting.
  4. Fill the muffin cups just to the top and bake for 15-17 minutes or until a knife inserted into the muffin comes out clean. Dust the tops with powdered sugar. Serve warm.
